Obituary


Richard L. “Dick” Ransom, 75, of Abington, passed away on Monday July 9th, after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Regina (Ripley) Ransom.

Dick was born and brought up in Abington, son of the late Charles A and Myrtle L. (Libby) Ransom.

He has been a lifelong resident of Abington and was a graduate of Abington High School Class of 1955.

He was the past co-owner of D & R Construction Company in Abington, which he co ran for 35 years.

Dick enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren,doing crossword puzzles, going to Foxwoods with his wife. He also enjoyed bowling, golf, watching the Red Sox and the Patriots.

In addition to his wife Regina, he is survived by his children, Rick Ransom, Teresa Schone and Sandra Ransom all of Abington, Paul Ransom of New Bedford. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Avery and her husband Richard of Hanson, his brother Charles A. Ransom, Jr. of AZ. And the late Myrtle Billings. He was the grandfather of 8 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

His services will be held on Friday July 13th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth St (Rt.58 at the Rotary Circle). Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Abington. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 12th from 4:00-8:00PM.
