Ester Di Santo Ferris a Taunton resident for over 60 years, died on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Taunton Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was 90 years old. She was the wife of the late Joseph Ferris. Ester was born in Santa Maria-Capua Vetre in Southern Italy on May 19, 1922 and was the loving daughter of the late Giovanni and Assunta (Nardiello) Di Santo.
She has been a communicant of the former St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Taunton since 1952. Mrs. Ferris had worked at the Robinson Current Factory for 7 years, and was also employed at Marion Manor for 12 years as a dietary aide. She was also a member of the Sons of Italy of Taunton and a member of the Retired Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Ferris was a former resident of Wales St. in Taunton, and more recently of Monadnock Ave., in Taunton. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed Ball Room Dancing and won numerous awards in competition.
Mrs. Ferris is survived by her loving daughter, Mrs. Peter (Eileen) M. Ciaglo of Middleboro and her loving son, Joseph Ferris Jr. of Taunton. She also leaves a loving brother, Alberto Di Santo of Taunton, as well as 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 12, at 8 am from the Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St., Taunton; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Andrew the Apostle Church 19 Kilmer Ave., Taunton. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
