Frances O. Woods, age 93, died Friday, July 6, 2012 at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. Born September 14, 1918 to the late Trice Albert E. and Lena Berdine Oliver, she worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. until her retirement. She was a member of the Pioneers and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Water Valley. Her hobby was visiting the hospital and the nursing home for so many years, where every day without fail, she brought water, ice and magazines to the patients and residents, and cared for their emotional needs.
Visitation will be Monday, July 9, 2012 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 5 until 7 PM. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in the Masonic Haughton Cemetery in Amory, MS at 3:00 PM. Nephews and family members will serve as pallbearers.
Although she had no children of her own, she was loved and cared for by her nieces and nephews, Mary Russell of Water Valley, Margie Calvi of Horn Lake, Patricia Wilson of Banner, Melanie Pruett of Abbeville, and John Pruett of Oxford. She also was loved by her other nieces and nephews, the Morris Woods children, including Mary Ellen, Ann, Betty, Lyn, and Larry.
