Rene J. St. Onge 81, of Brookhaven Lane, died Saturday June 30th at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Danis) St. Onge. Born in Woonsocket he was a son of the late William and Irene (Pierce) St. Onge. Rene formerly owned and operated Rene's Barber Shop on Mason St. He was a cloth cutter for Fitz Rain Wear for many years, he also worked for the Woonsocket School Department in the maintenance department before retiring in 1997. After his retirement, Rene worked part time for the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home. He was a member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks, a lifetime member of the Cercle Laurier, and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Rene was an avid tennis player, he also enjoyed snow skiing and playing pool.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Donna M. Darling and her husband Robert Jr. and Susan R. Trainor and her husband Keith both of Fort Pierce, FL, a brother, Leo St. Onge of North Smithfield, a sister, Lorraine Bachand of Absecon, NJ, three grandchildren, Sarah Gelineau, Joshua Jennison, and Jessica Jennison and three great-grandchildren.
His funeral with visitation will be held Monday at 8:30 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket , with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers donations to The Comprehensive Cancer Center at Miriam Hospital, 164Summit Ave. Providence, RI 02906 in his memory would be appreciated.
