J.C. Young, 94, of Daytona Beach, Florida died Wednesday July 4, 2012 at Osceola Healthcare in Ocilla.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Salem Cemetery in Ben Hill County with Rev. Tommy Land Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Young was born in Irwin County November 12, 1917 to the late William and Louise Young. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the North African European Theater. He was a former employee of B.F Goodrich Store, McBee Meat Market, and Southern Bread Company in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife Minnie Land Young of Dayton Beach; sisters and brothers-in-law, Polly and Dean McSwain, and Rose and J.R. Ellis all of Fitzgerald, brother and sister-in-law Tommy and Jean Carol Young of Osierfield and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, J. C. Young Jr and three brothers and one sister.
