James P. Moniz, age 43, of Medford passed away suddenly in his home on June 29th. Jimmy as his family and friends affectionately knew him was born in Cambridge and was the beloved son of Judith A. (Skerry) and James W. Moniz of Medford.
Jimmy was a 1986 graduate of the Medford Vocational Technical High School where he studied auto body mechanics. Jimmy was a life long resident of Medford and as a young boy was very active with youth hockey in Medford. He was the former owner and operator of the Moniz Auto body Shop of Woburn. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, he was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved animals.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is survived by his brother Christopher Moniz and his wife Kelley of Reading. He was the loving uncle of Hunter and Victoria Moniz. He was the nephew of David P. Skerry, Patricia Hickey and her husband Philip. He is also survived by many dear cousins, friends and his cherished pet dogs, Bella and Franky.
A funeral mass will be celebrated, Friday, July 6th, in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours have been respectfully omitted. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the M.S.P.C.A Angel Memorial Animal Hospital, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
