Edith Josephine Roberts, 84, of Clarksville, TN, formerly of Rum Creek, WV, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2012. She was born on April 16, 1928 in Logan, WV to the late Robert Edward Lowe and Olive Porter Lowe. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Carl Roberts; son, James (Crow) Roberts, Jr.; and brother, Enoch Lowe.
Jo's funeral is planned to be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. eastern time at Yolyn Community Church with Rev. Curtis White officiating. Burial will follow at Lowe's Family Cemetery on Lowes Mountain, WV. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Jo dedicated her life to serving the Lord as she, her husband Jim, and Alvie Gibson were known for their gospel singing for many years around the Logan, WV area. She was a faithful member of Yolyn Community Church and continued in the Lord's service at Crossland Avenue Baptist Church after moving to Clarksville. She became lovingly known as "Miss Jo" as she tirelessly worked in From the Heart Ministry, where she served home cooked meals and endless christian love to anyone in need. No one could ask for a better mother, neighbor, or friend and her sweet voice and smile should be remembered forever.
Jo is survived by her son, Darrell E. Roberts (the late Connie Roberts) of Granite Falls, NC; four daughters, Yvonne (Mike) Bell of Clarksville, TN, Deborah (Clifford) Adkins of Whites Addition, WV, Sheila (Shane) Chambers of Welcome, NC, and Sherri (Thomas) McAleer of Brandenburg, KY; two sisters, Hollie Mullins of Lowe's Mountain, WV and Mary Wooten of Amherstdale, WV; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
