Obituary

Patrick E. Ruddy, 86, formerly of Westport, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Catholic Memorial Home. He was husband of the late Irene (Santos) Ruddy.

Born in Pontiac, IL, he was son of the late Raymond and Marie (Feehan) Ruddy. He was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School in Joliet, IL and a 1976 graduate of UMass Amherst. A WWII and Vietnam War veteran, he served his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Military Chief Commissary after 23 years. Mr. Ruddy worked as an iron worker for Local 37, Providence, RI. He was a Communicant of St. Thomas More Church, Somerset and a 4th degree Bishop Stang Assembly 392 and a 3rd degree Msgr. Furtado Council 12348 member of the Knights of Columbus, Somerset.

Survivors include 2 sons: Charles P. Ruddy and Raymond J. Ruddy both of FL; a sister: Phyllis Ruddy of Denver, CO; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a special friend: Sarah Silvia of Somerset; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves an extended family of friends.

He was brother of the late Vincent Ruddy, Leona Jacksitch, Lucille Sherdian, Margaret Thompkins, Geraldine Quigley, Genevieve Dillon and Raymond Ruddy.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from the Hathaway Funeral Home, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas More Church, Somerset at 10:00 A.M.

Calling hours Monday 5 – 8 P.M. at the Hathaway Funeral Home, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset.

Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
