GOMES, Of Exeter, NH, Ronald W. “Ron” Gomes, Sr., 69, retired Belmont, MA firefighter, died June 26, 2012. He was the loving husband of Andrea (Blute) Lombardi Gomes with whom he was married to for five years. Born in Cambridge, MA on April 5, 1943 he was the son of the late Edward T. and Marie (Cook) Gomes. Ron joined the Belmont Fire Dept. on Oct. 6, 1974 and retired on Oct. 6, 2004 after thirty years of dedicated service to the community of Belmont. After his retirement he relocated to Exeter and enjoyed spending the summers with his wife in Raymond, NH. He is survived by his three sons, Ronald W. “Ron” Gomes, Jr., Tommy Gomes and Paul Gomes; two step-sons, Kenneth C. Lombardi and Joseph J. Lombardi; a step-daughter, Christine M. MacFarland and her husband Jamie; several grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Connor MacFarland; two brothers, Ray Gomes and his wife, Ann and Peter Fiorentino and his wife, Ceila; a sister, Marialana Cook and her husband, William; brother-in-law, Phillip Dragone and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Edward and John Gomes and two sisters, Jean Dragone and Mia Fiorentino. His funeral service will be held on Sunday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill at 5 p.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 1 – 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
