FRANKLIN—A. Gertrude (Sturtavant) Ross 95, of Franklin, and a former longtime Walpole resident, died Wednesday June 27, 2012 at the Kindred Transitional Care Facility in Franklin, surrounded by her large and loving family. She was the wife of the late Donald Ross, who died in 2002, and Alfred Nelson, her first husband.
Born in Boston, April 30, 1917 a daughter of the late Leon and Jessie (MacIntosh) Sturtavant , she was raised and educated in Rochester, New Hampshire. For many years and until her retirement, Mrs. Ross worked as a housekeeper and rectory worker at the rectory of St. Mary’s Church in East Walpole. She was a former member of the Conway, New Hampshire Grange.
She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne E. Collins of Blackstone, formerly of Franklin, 2 sisters Flora Tozier of Foxboro, and Dorothy Rein of New Hampshire, 8 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. She is also the mother of the late David W. Nelson and the sister of the late Walter & Helen Sturtavant.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Saturday at 12noon in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin. www.oterifuneralhome.com. Private interment services will take place at a later date in New Hampshire. Friends may call on Saturday from 10AM-12noon.
