Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Regina A. (Maroon) Roberts, 75, of the East Springfield section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on August 24, 1936, a beloved daughter of the late John J. and Gertrude (Cataw) Maroon. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary and High Schools and was a lifelong resident of the city. She furthered her education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee. She raised her family by herself and was a legal secretary for her entire career. She was employed by Attorney Donahue in Springfield and later for over 30 years at the Law Offices of Santaniello, Posnick and Basile in Springfield. She was also a legal transcriber for many trial court proceedings. She was a lifelong faithful communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield. During her leisure time, she enjoyed working on puzzles and knitting. She was an avid New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox fan who was always ready to watch a good game. She was a loving woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by: her loving daughter, Lisa Marie Roberts, who was Called Home on December 17, 1991; and her dear brothers and sister, baby Arthur Maroon, Peter Maroon and Evelyn "Penny" Provost. She leaves: her loving children, John Roberts and his companion, Jennifer J. Dunn, of Holyoke, Michael Roberts and his wife, Heather M. Roberts, of Springfield and Paul Roberts of Springfield and his companion, Charlene Anderson, of Chicopee; her seven cherished grandchildren, Kelli-Anne Roberts, Amanda Sue Roberts, Shelby Lisa Goyer, Matthew Roberts, Mary Veronica Roberts, Sarah Anne Roberts and Charles Joseph Roberts; her cherished great-granddaughter, Amelia Roberts; her dear brothers, John “Buster” Maroon and his wife, Carol, of Chicopee and Joseph Maroon of Provincetown, MA; her dear sisters, Elizabeth Wiseman and her husband, Phillip “Red”, of Texas and MaryAnn Busha and her husband, Richard, of Springfield; her dear brother-in-law, Arthur Provost of Chicopee; her dear aunts, Mary Maroon of Springfield and Evelyn Shergold of Seminole, FL; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, July 2, 2012, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. Her burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church Renovation Fund, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118.
