John Clifford “Buddy” Tomberlin, 71, of Irwin County, died June 27, 2012, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with the Rev. Dr. David Bailey officiating. Interment will be follow at Paulk-Tomberlin Cemetery in Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Tomberlin was born March 22, 1941 in Irwin County to Mrs. Laura Milner Tomberlin and the late Julian Oliver Tomberlin of Irwin County. He retired a Chief Machinist’s Mate from the United States Navy in 1979, having served in Vietnam. He was the former Road Superintendent for Irwin County and was a member of the Church of Christ in Tifton, GA and Ocilla Lodge #134, F.& A.M.
Mr. Tomberlin is survived by sons; Dr. Jeff & Laura Tomberlin of College Station Texas, and John & Evelyn Tomberlin of St Simons Island, Georgia; ten grandchildren; his mother; Mrs. Laura Tomberlin of Ocilla; siblings: Roy Lee and Joy Tomberlin of Ocilla, Frances and Owen Bailey of Orlando, Florida, Albert “Buck” and Linda Tomberlin of Emory, Texas, Ernest and Jean Tomberlin of Tifton and Ann Rosier of Michigan. Along with his father he was preceded by two children, Chris Tomberlin and Jennifer Tomberlin.
