Mary Sylvia Escobar Holland, age 92, of Pawcatuck, passed away Wednesday evening at Mystic Healthcare.
She was born in Portugal on August 25, 1919 the daughter of Annibal and Florence (Freitas) Escobar. Raised in Stonington, she attended local schools. She was a resident of Pawcatuck since 1957.
She married Donald K. Holland at St. Mary’s Church on May 1, 1941. He died in 2001.
She is survived by her children, Donna H. Songdahl and Paul G. Holland, both of Pawcatuck, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Jean Sherman of Florida.
In accordance with Mary's wishes, a private service will be held at Stonington Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center (www.the-pnc.org), 27 Chase Street, Pawcatuck CT 06379.
