WORCESTER___Richard J. Nichols, 59, of 11 Inverness Ave., died Thursday April 29 in his home.
He leaves his longtime companion and caregiver, Gloria C. Habib and her family; Michael, Edward, Zorita, Edward III and Joseph Habib all of Worcester; three brothers, Ralph C. Nichols and his late wife Agnes of Middletown, NY., Arthur P. Nichols and his wife Linda of Woodstock, Ct., Rex S. Nichols and his wife Theresa of Thompson, Ct., four sisters, Betty Erskine and her late husband Albert of Abington,Ct., Hazel N. Slye and her husband Frank of Abington; Lois J. Racine and her late husband, Charles of Southbridge and Sally A. Nichols of Boerne, Texas and many nephews and nieces. A brother, David E. Nichols of Eastford, Ct., died before him. He was born in Waterbury, Ct., son of Willford C. and Edna L. (Garlick) Nichols and later lived in Thompson, Ct., and had lived here 10 years.
Mr. Nichols worked as an independent residential contractor many years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and was a graduate of Putnam High School.
Richard’s funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday May 1 in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St. Burial will be Tuesday May 4 in Abington Cemetery, Abington, Ct. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Network Hospice, Inc. 120 Thomas St., Worcester, 01608.
