Doris (Rancourt) Tait, RN, 84, died on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT.
She was born in Lawrence, MA, on March 1, 1928, to Leo J. & Mary (Gorman) Rancourt. Educated in St. Rita’s Grammar School in Lawrence, and a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lawrence. She was a 1949 graduate of Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing, and worked at many hospital throughout her career including: Lawrence General Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, and Cincinnati General Hospital. She also worked as an Occupational Health Nurse for Digital Equipment Corporation for 14 years prior to her retirement. She was the author of a book called, “Nursing-In My Time”. She later received her Bachelors Degree in Human Services from Merrimack College. After retirement she volunteered for several years at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Loving wife of the late Harry Richardson Tait, she is survived by her daughter; Nancy (Tait) Jarboe and her husband Gregory of Acton, MA. son; George A. Tait and his wife Cindy of Aurora, Colorado, daughter; Cynthia (Tait) Rodrigues and her husband John of Reading, MA, daughter; Susan (Tait) Porcaro and her husband Steve of Windsor, CT, daughter; Patricia (Tait) Tappenden and her husband Paul of Windsor, CT. 11 grand children; Andrew, Brendan, and Kelsey Jarboe; Douglas, Eric, and Daniel Tait; Ian, Kyle, and Jack Porcaro; Charlotte and Peter Tappenden, as well as two sisters: Claire (Rancourt) Pollack of San Diego, CA and Mona (Rancourt) Shank of Methuen, MA, and several nieces.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 1:00PM at the funeral home, a burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tewksbury, MA.
