Obituary

Greenfield—Edith O. (Mattson) Fenlon, 82, died Sunday, May 2, 2004 in the Franklin Medical Center. Her husband Paul F. Fenlon died in 1999. She leaves 1 daughter, Janet G. Peers of Greenfield, with whom she lived; 1 brother, Oliver Mattson of Florida; 1 grandson and his wife, James H. “Jimsey” and Sheila M. Peers, III. Four brothers, Ernest, Roland, Albert, and Leonard, predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Oscar and Hilma (Swenson) Mattson. She graduated from Commerce High School and was an accountant at Norton Company for over 40 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Worcester. Edith played for the Helens All-Star Women’s Softball Team in the 1930’s and was a life-long sports fan.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Avenue, Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling Hours will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, before the service at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to the American Lung Association, One Abbey Lane, Middleboro, MA 02346.
