Obituary

GEORGETOWN: Lorraine F. (Smith) Hill, 84, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late George A. Hill who died on March 12, 1988.
Born in Haverhill on June 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Helen M. (Rogers) Smith. She had resided in Haverhill and Groveland for many years before moving to Georgetown in 1997. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School class of 1946.
Lorraine was employed as a bookkeeper for the El-Mar Company in Haverhill for twenty-five years before retiring in 1996. She was also a Senior Ambassador at the Merrimack Valley Hospital and worked in Elder Services for The Council on Aging in Topsfield for several years. She enjoyed her work in both of these positions. Lorraine loved to read, especially mysteries. She was also an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. She was a sun worshipper and loved going to the beach in the summertime. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lorraine was a communicant of St. Mary Parish in Georgetown.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith L. Lambroukos and her husband, Nicholas W. of Lowell and Patricia A. Griffin of Largo, FL; two sons, Gerald E. Hill and his wife, Catherine (Hughes) of Groveland and Richard A. Hill of Haverhill; six grandchildren, Zachary Pepin and his partner, Shan Brown, Erika Robinson and her partner, Melissa Rauseo, Jeremy Hill and his wife, Mary, Jennifer MacKenzie and her husband, Howard, Michael Hill and his wife, Stephanie and Krista Lambroukos; nine great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and wonderful dear friends. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Susan A. (Griffin) Robinson, her son, David G. Hill, a brother, Melvin Smith and two sisters, Mary (Smith) Hansen and Barbara (Smith) Dunphy.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. Mary Parish, 94 Andover St., Georgetown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Franciscan Mission, 517 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, NY 12144 or to the charity of one’s choice.
