Obituary

Elizabeth E. (Mattila) Gingras, 93, of Worcester died Friday, June 22nd in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. She leaves her husband of 52 years, William P. Gingras, Jr.; a son, William P. Gingras, III with whom she lived and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Ret. Captain Risto Mattila and a sister, Dhelilla (Mattila) Babineau predeceased her.
She was born in Finland, the daughter of Anton and Ida Mattila. Mrs. Gingras worked at Reed and Prentice in Quality Control and was also a LPN at Worcester City Hospital and several area nursing homes for 30 years. While at Reed and Prentice, Elizabeth traveled throughout Europe spending several weeks in Finland the place of her birth. After Reed and Prentice closed she traveled to Hawaii where she stayed with her brother for a year, who was the captain of the port in Honolulu.
Mrs. Gingras was a member of All Saints Church where she was on several committees. She was past president of the NANA Club at the church.
Her funeral is Thursday, June 28th with a service at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, 10 Irving Street. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in Green Bower Cemetery, Winter Street, Gardner. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 27th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester.
