Thelma Worth Mixon, 87, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Palemon Gaskin Nursing Home, Ocilla, Georgia
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Kyle Taft officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Thursday and Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mixon was born December 20, 1916, in Lakeland, Georgia. She lived in Fitzgerald most of her life and was a former resident of Heritage Manor in Ocilla and a former resident of Douglas. Mrs. Mixon was a former nurses aide at the Ben Hill County Hospital, the Irwin County Hospital and a former lunchroom lady at Fitzgerald High School. She attended the Fitzgerald Church of God.
Mrs. Mixon is survived by four daughters: Betty Douglas, Ocilla, Martha Ellen Langley, Albany, Amelia “Midge” Adams, Villa Rica, GA and Irma Lee Royals, Axson, GA; two sons: Donald W. Mixon, Linwood, WA and Jimmy E. Mixon, Waterloo, GA; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren; one sister: Belle Owen, Okeechobee, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lunzy Mixon and one son, Gene Lamar Mixon.
