Obituary

Charles Leonard Toomey, 84, peacefully passed away on June 19, 2012 in his home. He was the husband of Anne (Clasby) Toomey, with whom he shared 26 years of marriage.
Born in Danvers on February 12, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Hayden) Toomey. He was raised and educated in Danvers and graduated from Holten High School in 1946. Charles went on to Northeastern University where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He had been employed as an electrical engineer for Raytheon for many years in the Missile Division. Charles had nine U.S. Patents and two Trade Secrets. He also taught electronics at the Northern Essex Community College in Andover for many years. Charles also enjoyed spending much of his time in the garden.
He is survived by his wife, Anne and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel, John, William and Richard Toomey.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Friday, June 22, 2012 in St. Richard Parish, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Thursday from 6-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
