Eleanor M. Wood, 95, of Derry, NH died on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. She was born on October 8, 1916 in Newport, NH, a daughter of the late Arthur C. and Grace M. (Kincaid) Bingham. She was a resident of Derry since 2009, formerly living in Florida for over 30 years. Ms. Wood graduated from Accounting School, then worked for many years with Selective Service and as a bookkeeper for True Value Hardware in FL retiring at the age of 89. She enjoyed playing piano, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and gardening. Eleanor was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Cooties and the Military Order of VFW Navy Star Mothers.
She is survived by one son, William Bogdan of Raymond, NH, three daughters, Anne Colgate of Derry, Elaine Heinrich and her husband Walter of Atkinson, NH, and Loreen Webber of Venice, FL, ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Robert Shaughnessy in 1964 and her sister Margie Stevens.
There are no calling hours. Graveside services were held on Saturday June 23, 2012 at 11:00am in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry Road, E. Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is assisting the family with arrangements.
