Johnathan Summers “Jack” Kelly, age 75, a longtime resident of Natick, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, June 18, 2012. He and his wife, Carol (Day) Kelly, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary last week.
Born in Boston on May 31, 1937, he was the son of the late Wilton and Priscilla (Goodway) Kelly. He was raised in Squantum and was a graduate of North Quincy High School. He served with the Army Security Agency for two years prior to earning a degree in Economics from UMass Amherst.
Jack and Carol settled in Natick, and Jack was employed with the Honeywell Corporation for the majority of his career. A computer Specialist, he had been working as a Field Engineer for several years. In 1997, he became a Network Manager for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, a position he held until his 2004 retirement.
A multitalented man, Jack enjoyed projects at his home and over time had renovated each area of the house. He and his family loved camping year round and since his retirement, he and Carol had traveled to and camped at many of the U.S. National Parks. Jack had been a dedicated Boy Scout Dad and Leader and profoundly enjoyed his association with the Scouts. A family oriented man, he was most happy when spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by Carol; three sons, Andrew W. Kelly and wife Deborah of Hudson, Jason P. Kelly and wife Gina of Sacramento, CA, and Joshua N. Kelly and wife Katelyn of Kingston; four grandchildren, Stephen, Johnathan, Agnes, and Owen; a sister, Justine Lester and husband Eldridge of Georgetown, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Friday, June 22nd at 1:00p.m. Relatives and friends may visit with the family beginning at 12noon.
