George Jannette, 76, died surrounded by family at his home in Plymouth, MA. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years Betty (Shields), sons Paul & Robert, daughter Susan and her husband Ken Aicardi; his 3 adored grandchildren Jason, Christine & Gina, his sister Barbara Butler and her husband Larry; and his brother Frank. As a young boy, George joined The Most Precious Blood Crusaders of Hyde Park and continued his involvement in Drum Corps over the next several years playing bugle then progressing to drum major, instructor, judge and in later years as a participant in both Holy Trinity & St. Kevin’s Emerald Knights Alumni Corps. He was awarded Drum Major of the year in 1953 and was honored to be inducted into the Drum Corps Hall of Fame in 1996. Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd (Rt 3A), Plymouth (Manomet) on Wednesday June 20th from 4 to 8 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 21st at St. Bonventure’s Church at 9:30 AM followed by burial at the National Cemetery in Bourne. We would like to honor George’s life long passion for music & drum corps by making it possible for an aspiring musician to achieve his or her goal of marching with the Boston Crusaders.
