GLOUCESTER: Eileen J. (Dawson) Anderson, 86, of 10 Dale Avenue, died Sunday morning, June 17, 2012 in the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Phillip A. Anderson, who died in January of 2001.
Born in Lawrence on December 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Beatrice (Jameson) Dawson. She had attended Gloucester public schools and had been employed as a telephone operator.
Eileen was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with her family. She was also a longtime member of the Cape Ann YMCA’s Women’s Swim Club.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Janet and Ronald Simpkins, Linda and Edward Martin, Susan Benes, companion of Robert Phillips and Amy and John Cox; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Phillip A., Jr. and Karen (Feener) Anderson, David Anderson, fiancé of Jennifer Claypool; twelve grandchildren, Wendy Anderson, companion of Michael Jordan, Michael, husband of Linda Allen, Jessica Allen, companion of Michael Gauthier, Scott Anderson, Todd, husband of Katie Simpkins, Nathan Simpkins, Steven Anderson, Jeremy Anderson, Christina Cox, Amanda Cox, John Cox, Jr. and Thomas Cox; great-grandchildren, Lacey Hashley, Ella Anderson, Molly Simpkims, Charlie Simpkins, David Hashley, Jr. and Zachary Hashley; and three sisters, Patricia Becker, Susan Hodet and Diane Dawson. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Carol Mazzeo and sister and brother-in-law, Claire and Ellsworth Anderson.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice. Interment will be held in the Beechbrook Cemetery.
