Francis G. English, 82, a residence of Lawrence, died on Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence, MA.
He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on October 8, 1929 to Charles P. and Marguerite T. (Guerin) English. He was an attendant of St. Augustine Grammar School in Lawrence and graduate of Central High School in Lawrence class of 1947. He attended Cornell University and received his Bachelors in Business from Boston College class of 1952, and also attended Office Candidate School in Newport, RI. He served in the United States Navy having served on the USS Burdo as a Supply Officer and retired from the Naval Reserve as rank of Lieutenant Commander. He worked in the Finance Department of Avco Corporation & later Textron in Wilimington, MA.
He belonged to the Rocky CLub having served on the board of directors. He was past president of the Holy Family Mens Guild and a member of the Ancient Order Hibernians Division 8 in Lawrence, MA.
He is survived by his wife: Claire a. (Sullivan) English of Andover, MA, his twin brother; Frederick J. English New York City, cousin Brother Joseph A. Comber, CFX of Melrose, MA. He was predeceased by his aunt and uncle; Eleanor and Joseph Comber who raised him and his twin brother.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11:00AM at the funeral home. A burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
