Dennis N. Royal, 72 of Londonderry, died Wednesday June 13, 2012 at his daughter’s residence in Pelham, surrounded by his loving family after a battle with cancer. He was born May 21, 1940 in Brentwood, NH and was a son of the late Norman and Dorna (Locke) Royal. Dennis was raised and educated in the Hampton Falls area, and received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1964. He had been a resident of Londonderry for the past 35 years.
Mr. Royal was employed as a math and science teacher, first in Locke Mills, ME, for two years, before moving to Londonderry High School where he taught for 36 years prior to retirement in 2002. Among his various duties in Londonderry, he was a Driver Education Instructor for many years. Dennis was also employed as a part time police officer with the Town of Hampton, and most notably, Hampton Beach for many years. He loved watching sports, reading and boating, and enjoyed following the stock market.
Members of the family include his wife of 51 years, Barbara (DiCicco) Royal of Londonderry, three daughters and their husbands, Gaye and Rick Holt of Loudon, Kimberly and Tom L’Heureux of Litchfield, and Candice and Richie Repici of Pelham, 6 grandchildren, Kaila, Ashley and Kaetlin Koons, Victoria Holt, and Emma and Andrew Repici, three great grandchildren, with one on the way, He was also survived by three brothers and one sister, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours were held Monday June 18 from 4 to 8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road Londonderry, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday June 19, at 10:30 am the St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 1 South Rd. Londonderry, NH. Cremation followed.
