Obituary

Concepcion “Connie” Pacheco Roark, age 87, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully at Saint Patrick’s Manor in Framingham on Tuesday night, June 12, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late William F. Roark who died in 2001.

Born, raised and educated in Yauco, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Eloy and Amalia (Castro) Pacheco. Connie started working in healthcare at the age of 14, and worked her way through nursing school, eventually earning her RN.

She immigrated to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1955, a city that was to be her home for the next fifty years. Connie was employed with Baltimore’s City Hospital for a year prior to joining the staff at Johns Hopkins as a surgical nurse. During the course of her forty plus years in nursing, she was witness to countless changes and innovations to surgical procedures and techniques.

Connie continued to care for others after her retirement from Johns Hopkins in keeping with her natural inclination to be nurturing. She also enjoyed tending her gardens. In 2008, she left Baltimore and moved to Sherborn where she lived with her daughter.

She is survived by two daughters, Maria de los Angeles Montes-McHugh and husband Ralph of Sherborn, and Gail C. Roark of Timonium, MD; two grandsons, Ralph D. McHugh of Westborough, and David J. McHugh and wife Noelle of Portland, MI; and two great-grandchildren, Damien Robert and Lucia Therese McHugh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Therese of Lisieux Church, 35 South Main Street (Rte. 27), Sherborn, on Saturday, June 16th at 11:00a.m. Relatives and friends may visit with the family in the church beginning at 10:00a.m. Burial will be at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens, 5598 Trumps Mill Road, Baltimore, Maryland, Wednesday, June 20th at 12:00noon.
