FRAMINGHAM: Richard M. “Dick” Grenham, 73, died peacefully surrounded by the care and comfort of his family on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 following a brief illness.
He was born in Cambridge on November 30, 1938 the son of the late Edward M. Grenham Sr. and Bertha L. (Paynter) Grenham.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Jean (Landrigan) Grenham of Framingham. He was the loving father of Richard M. Grenham, Jr. and his wife Angela J. Grenham of North Grafton and Ellen E. Monahan of Framingham. He was the devoted grandfather of Jessica M. Grenham of North Grafton and Marissa L. Grenham of Oklahoma City, OK. Brother of Edward M. “Ted” Grenham, Jr. and his wife Cynthia M. Grenham of Framingham. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Dick was also the father-in-law of the late Daniel J. Monahan.
Dick was educated through the Cambridge School System and spent his formative years in Cambridge. He has been a resident of Framingham for over 30 years. He served his country proudly with the United States Marine Corps. Dick has a long and distinguished career of 30 years as a systems engineer with IBM beginning in Cambridge and retiring from the Waltham office. He and his wife enjoyed spending the winter months in Fort Myers, FL. Among his many interests were waterskiing on Lake Cochituate with his neighbors; golfing; tennis and traveling with his wife and family. He also enjoyed walking his daughter Ellen’s dog Henry throughout the neighborhood and chatting with his many friends and neighbors.
Visitations will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm followed by his funeral service at 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
In lieu of flowers his family suggests the memorial gifts in Dick’s memory may be sent to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, One Bullfinch Place, Second Floor, Boston, MA 02114.
