Obituary

Mrs. Lucy M. Picilo, 92 of Medford, formerly of Miami Beach and Boston’s West End, died on Monday in Winchester following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Ralph Picilo. Born in Boston, daughter of the late Orazio and Carmela (Barbagallo) Tampone she was raised in Boston’s West End and attended Girls High School in Boston. She has been a Medford Resident for more than 66 years. Earlier she worked as a cashier in the Medford School System. Mrs. Picilo was an avid Bingo player, she most enjoyed spending time in Maine at family gatherings where her daughter has a summer place. An active woman, she was a member of Gold’s Gym into her 80’s. She also loved old movies. Nothing gave her more satisfaction than spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves 2 daughters, Camille Power and her husband Jon of Medford, Linda Ames and her husband Richard of Stoneham. Beloved grandmother of Christopher Power, Leah Surette and Jessica Ames-Balacki. Great grandmother of Christian, Makayla and Luke Surette and Nicholas Balacki. Dear sister of the late Salvatore, Charles and Mary Tampone, Josephine LaCambria and Anne Hall.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main Street Medford on Thursday at 9:00 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street Medford at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucy’s name may be sent to the Dutton Adult Day Health Center, 1117 Main Street Wakefield MA. 01880.
