...longtime Tewksbury Resident, age 84
TEWKSBURY- Claire Y. (Lowrey) LeBel, age 84 , died peacefully Monday morning June 11, surrounded by her family in Tewksbury. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert LeBel.
She was born in Lowell on June 18, 1927 ,a daughter of the late Wallace and Antoinette (Berton) Lowrey. She was raised in Lowell and graduated Lowell High. She worked as a Matron at The Shawsheen Tech High School. She moved to San Diego, CA with her husband for a short period of time. She lived in Lowell and Somerville before moving to Tewksbury and became a well known longtime resident. She worked as an administrator at the family business with her husband and owner of the Merrimack Driving School in Tewksbury.
Claire was active in the Tewksbury Senior Center in which she enjoyed serving breakfast and playing Bingo. She was and avid gardener, a communicant of St.William’s and a volunteer for FEMA.
She is survived by one son, Jesse LeBel of Methuen, one daughter and son-in-law, Robin and her husband Edward Farley Jr. of Tewksbury; a sister and brother-in-law, Connie and her husband Martin Mulbury of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren, Robert and Corie Farley, and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Vivian Orgonowski , Lillian Jacques, and Albert Lowrey. Sister-in-law of the late Frank Orgonowski.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, June 15, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, No. Tewksbury. Memorials to the “Friends of the Elderly,” Tewksbury Senior Drop-in Center, Building Fund, 175 Chandler St. Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
