Sgt. Edgar "Ed" Blaine Thompson, 78, of Clarksville, TN, died on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at his residence. He was born on May 20, 1934 in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas to the late Benjamin Thompson and Dora Thompson.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 12 PM at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. David Austin officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 10 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Ed was a 22 year U.S. Army Veteran having served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired with the rank of SGT 1st Class. He was also a member of St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Thompson of Clarksville, TN; two sons; Blaine Thompson of Clarksville, TN and Brian Thompson of Montana; four daughters, Janice Williams of Clarksville, TN, Cindy (David) Austin of Reva, VA, Terri Suiter of Clarksville, TN, and Debra (Randy) Butts of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, Johnny (Ruth) Thompson of Kansas City, MO and Bill (Dean) Thompson of Thayer, MO; fourteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Military will serve as pallbearers.
