WORCESTER-Thomas “Tim” Johnston, 92, of 340 May Street, formerly of Saugus died Friday, April 30th in The Meadows of Leicester. His wife of 66 years, Angelina (Peloquin) Johnston died in 1997. He leaves a nephew, Richard and his wife Anita Johnston of Leicester, 3 nieces, Barbara, wife of John Faulkenham of Lancaster, Dr. Jalna Perry of Cambridge and Linda, wife of George Falkus of Richardson, TX. His son Robert Johnston and 4 brothers, Peter, William, Sidney and Matthew Johnston predeceased him.
He was born in Fitchburg the son of Thomas and Margaret (Wannop) Johnston and lived in Saugus for 60 years. Mr. Johnston was a general foreman for General Electric in Lynn for 40 years, retiring in 1973. He was a proud alumnus of its apprentice program. Mr. Johnston was a member of the Masons, William Sutton Lodge in Saugus for over 50 years. He enjoyed working around his home and playing golf well into his 80’s. During the last 20 months of his life, he lived happily with the assistance of the kind and caring staff of the Harbor Unit at Tatnuck Park.
At the request of the family the funeral services and burial will be private. Calling hours are Monday, May 3rd from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140.
