Obituary

Worcester--Harley E. Yerdon, 82, of Duncannon Ave., formerly of Vestal, NY, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, in St. Vincent Hospital.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Jean M. (Nesmith) Yerdon; 2 sons, Lawrence J. Yerdon of Pittsfield and Stephen H. Yerdon and his wife Deborah of Holden; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer and Lauren Yerdon; 2 sisters, Jean Yerdon of Syracuse, NY, and Dorothy Stafford of Lafayette, NY; and several nephews and nieces.

He was born in Redfield, NY, son of Amon and Celia (Caster) Yerdon and graduated from Sandy Creek High School. Mr. Yerdon worked for IBM as a Lab Technician for 38 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of The 1st Church of the Nazarene in Binghamton, NY where he served as treasurer, board member, and in other leadership positions. Mr. Yerdon was a WWII Army Air Force veteran serving in England.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 3, at 1:00 p.m. at the Salem Covenant Church in Worcester. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to The Hancock Shaker Village, P.O. Box 927, Pittsfield, MA 01202 or the Devereux School, P.O. Box 219, Rutland, MA 01543.
