Obituary

Louise L. (Edwards) Hunt, 96, of New Bedford died peacefully Friday June 8, 2012 at Sacred Heart Home. She was the widow of Arthur B. Hunt, the love of her life. Louise was the daughter of the late Charles and Edith Edwards.
Louise worked for many years at the Standard-Times as the elevator operator, a job she truly loved.
She was the loving mother of Sheila Hutchison and husband Ronald of Westport, Frances Medeiros and husband Richard of Mount Dora, FL, Anne Mortensen and husband Matthew of Rochester, Mary Ferreira and husband Manuel of Dartmouth, Patrick J. Hunt and wife Kellie Martin of New Bedford, and her precious angel, the late Theresa Marie Hunt. She was the grandmother of James Bernard and wife Tanya, Robert Bernard and wife Kristen, Michael Medeiros, Christopher Medeiros and wife Feng Cxo, Heidi Ransburgh, Timothy Hunt and wife Meg, Daniel Hunt and wife Kelly, Kathleen Burger and husband Bryan, Arthur Mortensen and fiancée Sara Piwinski, Andrew Mortensen and fiancée Addie Proffit, Matthew Mortensen, Theresa Medeiros and husband Brian, Elizabeth Ferreira, and Christine Ferreira and her partner Jon Niles. She was affectionately known as "GG" by her beloved great-grandchildren, Jack, Jason, and Tommy Bernard, Christian and Carly Medeiros, Alexandria and Nikolaus Ransburgh, Hadley and Brody Hunt, Chloe and Olivia Hunt, Nathan and Brinley Burger, Alexis Mortensen, Lindsay and Sarah Medeiros, and Abbie Mae and Drew Hurley. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Louise was predeceased by her seven brothers, Luther, George, Norman, Leo, Lester, Clarence, and Roy.
Louise loved to read, wrote the most entertaining poetry, loved spending time with her family, the sunshine, and doing crossword puzzles. She was the past president of the Spanish American War Auxiliary and an incredible historian. She was loved by everyone she met and always had a great story to tell.
Louise's family wishes to thank the staff at Sacred Heart Home for all of their loving care and devotion.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at the Chapel of Sacred Heart Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
