Margarethe H. (Langer) Johnson, 102, formerly of North Grosvenordale and Pomfret, entered the Lord’s Kingdom on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at West View Healthcare Center in Dayville, CT.
Her husband, Fred J. Johnson died in 1968.
She is survived by a brother, Carl Langer of Windsor Locks,Ct. and many nieces and nephews.
Margarethe was born in Webster, MA. on April 23, 1910, she was the daughter of Oscar J. and Julia M. (Kindler) Langer.
She graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School in Thompson. She was also a foster mother for over 35 boys.
Margarethe was predeceased by brothers; Herbert, Rudolf, Anton, Bernhardt, Eduard and Paul Langer.
She was a lifelong member of the former Emanuel Lutheran Church in Webster and sang in the church choir over 50 years before joining Zion Lutheran Church in 2006.
She was a member of the Thompson Senior Center, the Pomfret Senior Center, a bell ringer at Pierce Baptist Home, and was a bookkeeper at the former Kindler Hardware Co. in Webster and was the first cafeteria supervisor at Tourtellotte Memorial High School.
Calling Hours for Margarethe will be Monday, June 11, 2012 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St.,Webster.
The Funeral will be Tuesday, June 12, 2012 with a Service at 10 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 70 Main St., Oxford.
Burial will be in Elmvale Cemetery in Woodstock, CT.
