Obituary

Mrs. Marie A. Nigro, 92 of Wakefield, formerly of Medford died on Thursday in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital following a lengthy illness. She is the wife of the late Vincent J. Nigro.
Born in Boston, daughter of the late Giovanni and Rosalia (DiPrimo) Stella, she attended local schools. A Wakefield resident since 2009, she had been a Medford resident for more than 50 years. Years ago she worked as a seamstress and had been a proud member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, an affiliate of AFL-CIO. She was known to be a great cook and a meticulous home maker, she was an avid reader and had a green thumb in the garden. She had a way with flowers and plants and looked forward to the growing season. In earlier years she was active with the Medford Senior Citizens group. She loved the Senior Center Christmas season and the festivities there. Mrs. Nigro had been a regular participant in the Summer feasts in Boston’s North End. She was particularly fond of the feast of Madonna Della Cava. She leaves three daughters Camille Carter and her husband Donald of Wakefield, Linda Chauncy and her husband Peter of Stoneham, Janet Weiner and her husband Robert of Wakefield. Loving grandmother of Lauren and Amanda Chauncy and Alicia Sarro. Dear sister of the late Philip and Santo Stella, Connie Martinez and Lucille Ricciardelli. Funeral from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Monday at 9 am followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
