Obituary

Billie Adams Worley, 78, of Tifton passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday June 11, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Tifton. Pastors Dr. Wayne Roe, Dr. W. Ches Smith III and Rev. Paul Thomas will officiate. Entombment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Her grandsons, Nick Hardin, Scott Hardin and Andrew Worley will serve as pallbearers, along with Bobby Miles, Tommy Smallwood, Dan Branch, Wilbur Webb and Earl Branch. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mrs. Worley’s Sunday school class at Tifton’s First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 10, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Worley was born on March 25, 1934 in Angier, NC. She was the daughter of Roy Alton Adams and Eva Champion Adams, both deceased. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Tifton for over 50 years. She loved her church, taught Sunday School, and joyfully sang praises to the Lord in the church choirs. Mrs. Worley loved working with children, and received many awards for her work with children and volunteer service in the community including Annie Belle Clark Teacher of the Year. She attended Flora McDonald College in Raleigh, NC and later received Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Early Childhood Education from Abraham Baldwin College and Valdosta State College. She was a dedicated kindergarten teacher for 19 years at Annie Belle Clark Elementary School, and after retirement, she continued volunteering at the Mother Goose Kindergarten.

Mrs. Worley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Dr. Ray Edward Worley.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Allison Worley, of Madison, AL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Will Hardin of St. Marys, GA and Miriam and Jeff Tomberlin of Merritt Island, FL; sisters, Ella Henderson and Allandra Adams of Mebane, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Steve Kluttz of Cleveland, NC; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Galynn Adams of Goose Creek, NC; sister-in-law, Mary Jewel Adams of Clover, VA; and seven grandchildren, Alisa Crosson and husband Jamey, Lauren Pace and husband Chuck, Andrew Worley, Nick Hardin, Scott Hardin and wife Kelli, Jordan Tomberlin, and Abigail Tomberlin.
