...avid fly fisherman, formerly of Tewksbury; 73
Salem, NH - William L. "Bill" Knight, age 73, a retired carpenter and business owner, died Thursday evening, June 7, at the Salem Haven Nursing Home, following a lengthy struggle with his health. He was the beloved husband of Brenda Lee (Watkins) Knight, who died in 1998.
He was born in Everett, MA on December 15, 1938, the son of the late Lesley and Elsie (Tracy) Knight. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the Submarine USS Sea Robin (SS 407). He was honorably discharged in August of 1960. He lived in the Tewksbury area the greater part of his life.
He was the proud owner of the Caddis Company, a counter top manufacturer that he named after a common fishing "fly" and his passion for flyfishing.
He is survived by three sons, William L. Knight Jr., and his wife Carol (Hayter) of Oxford, MI, David A. Knight and his wife Erin (Grover) of Derry, NH, and Stephen M. Knight and his wife Julie (Boutselis) of Dracut; six beloved grandchildren, Trevor and Brendan Knight of Oxford, MI, Samantha and Meghan Knight of Derry, NH, Kyle and Ryan Knight of Dracut, MA.
His Funeral Service was held on Sunday evening June 10, in the funeral home. Memorials to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 will be appreciated.
