Rita M. (O'Neil) Healey, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at her home in Charlestown following a brief illness with cancer. She was 91 years old.
Rita was born in Boston on August 21, 1920, a daughter of the late Michael J. O'Neil and Mary (Morrissey) O'Neil. Rita grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1938. Rita worked for over 37 years as a medical records clerk at the Bunker Hill Health Center in Charlestown.
Rita is the beloved wife of the late George J. Healey. She is the devoted mother of George P. Healey of Charlestown, William J. Healey and his wife Colleen of Marshfield and Paul T. Healey and his wife Elizabeth of Rockland. She is the loving Nan Rita to 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved and devoted sister to Ruth Humphrey of Charlestown and the late Joseph, John, James, Francis, Thomas and Paul O'Neil, Mary Dobie, Thomas and John Morrissey and Doris Nigro. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rita's Funeral on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
