Anna G. (Ring) O'Neil, 100, of Fairhaven, formerly of New Bedford, died Monday June 4, 2012. She was the wife of the late John V. O'Neil, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Daniel T. and Mary A. (Reilly) Ring, she lived in New Bedford most of her life, before moving to the Atria in Fairhaven several years ago.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mrs. O'Neil was employed as a school teacher in New Bedford and Dartmouth for 34 years until her retirement in 1972.
She was a member of the Bristol County Retired Teachers Association, the Daughters of Isabella, the Massachusetts Catholic Order of Foresters, the Holy Name Ladies Guild, the Holy Name Bowling Group, and the Holy Name Sewing Group.
She was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed cultivating roses. She enjoyed participating in the many activities at the Atria and spending time with her many friends there.
She is survived by two godchildren, Anne Krawetz and her husband Michael and Peter Cabral and his wife Vicky; and several cousins.
She was the sister of the late Helen E. Barry and Mary A. Almond.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
