Donald E. “Don” Thompson, 60, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 in Leesburg, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM, Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the Ocilla Church of God, with Rev. Clayton Dowd and Eddie Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Thursday evening and Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Thompson was born June 24, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Joe E. Thompson, Jr. and Minnie Doyle Thompson Wilson. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1986 from Thomasville, Georgia and was a former resident of Barbourville, Kentucky. Mr. Thompson was an automobile salesman with Carl Gregory in Albany and was a former employee of Deep South in Fitzgerald. Mr. Thompson served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Ocilla Church of God.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife: Darlene S. Thompson, Fitzgerald; two children: Donald E. “Donnie” Thompson, II, Albany and Becky Thompson, Fitzgerald; five grandchildren: Dakota, Kyler, Brandon, Logan and Scharlie; one sister: JoAnn Branch, Lakeland, FL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
