Mrs. Marie “Josie” (Levesque) Henriques, of Taunton, died Saturday, June 2 in the Taunton Nursing Home, surrounded by her family and loved ones at the age of 89. She was the beloved wife of the late Tony Henriques. Josie was the daughter of the late Honore and Alice (Baril) Levesque. She was educated in Taunton, attending the former St. Jacques Grammar School and Taunton High School, and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a housekeeper for many families in the greater Whittenton area for many years. She had also been employed at the former Noel’s Ice Cream Stand at the Whittenton Three Corners. Josie spent more than fifty years summering in Onset, where she was employed by Kenny’s Salt Water Taffy, and enjoyed bantering with the many customers. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and later, her great grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
She leaves: 1 daughter: Marilyn M. Dubois of Taunton; a son-in-law: Erwin “Bud” Whalon of Dighton; 3 sisters: Theresa Moquin of Berkley, Rochelle Rocha of Taunton, and Lorraine Tondreault of Florida; 1 brother: Richard Levesque of Cape Cod; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Donna J. Whalon, and the sister of the late Helen Bagge, Rita Hickey, Roland, Robert “Chink,” Adrian “Pete,” Roger and Raymond Levesque.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Wednesday, June 6 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
