Miss Cecile LaPlante, of Taunton, went quietly to heaven Saturday, June 2 in Morton Hospital following a brief illness. She was born 95 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Felix and Alexina (Levesque) LaPlante. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a stitcher for the former Taunton Dress Company for many years. Cecile was a devoted caregiver to her family her whole life, and was a talented seamstress. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.
She leaves many nieces and nephews, and was the last surviving member of a family of 11 children.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street on Wednesday, June 6 at 11:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 12:00 Noon. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Visiting Hour will precede the funeral, Wednesday, from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M.
