Obituary


Ted E. Howarth, 86, of Westport died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center in Fall River. He was the husband of Victoria A. (Braga) Howarth.


Born in Swansea, son of the late George W.T. and Katherine E. (Crane) Howarth, he had lived in Westport since 1959. He was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Thibodeau Business College in Fall River and Bryant College in RI. A veteran of WWII and the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Howarth was the owner / operator of Howarth Specialty Company. He was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport, a member of Ducks Unlimited, Westport Lions Club, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Ouellette Post 8502, Westport and a former member of the American Legion Post 145, Westport. A lifetime member of Marine Corps League Col. William "Rich" Higgins of Newport, Rhode Island.


Including his wife, survivors include a daughter: Victoria A. Howarth Roy and her husband Jay P. Roy of Swansea; 4 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Bryana, Michael and Joshua; 2 great grandchildren: Vanessa and Brendan; and a nephew John M. Greenwell of North Carolina: several Godchildren: Jane, Jo, and Ted. Sister-in-Law: Laura F. Greenwell of Swansea, MA.


He was brother of the late George W. Howarth and Wesley Howarth.


Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the POTTER FUNERAL HOME at 11:00 A.M.


Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 –11 A.M. prior to the funeral.


Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
