Obituary

Mary (Scannell) Graw, 85, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2012 in her home. She was the wife of George K. Graw with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.
Born in Worcester on July 18, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marion (Power) Scannell. She was a graduate of The College of Our Lady of the Elms and received her Masters in Education from Worcester State College. She had been a resident of Topsfield for over 40 years, where she was a communicant and catechist at St. Rose of Lima Parish. Mary and her husband have resided at Brooksby Village in Peabody for over 3 years. Prior to raising her children, Mary was a much loved high school English teacher and coach for 17 years in Leicester and Everett.
Mary was a cherished mother and grandmother. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, George Graw and his wife Anne of Andover, her daughter Mary Leary and her husband Michael of Alexandria, VA, her sister Ann Carlstrom of Westborough, her brother Edward Scannell and his wife Amy of Worcester, her brother-in-law Charles Donovan of Harwich, four granddaughters, Molly and Maggie Graw and Flannery and Connell Leary and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Judith Donovan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. Rose of Lima Church, 12 Park St., Topsfield. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Visiting Hours are Sunday from 4 to 7 PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers.
