Obituary


HALL, Robert A., Sr. Of Winthrop, passed away at his home, on May 30, 2012. He was born in Cambridge, MA, on Feb. 17, 1932. Son of James H. and Annie L. (Sales) Hall. Robert attended schools in Cambridge and proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Leyte, during the Korean War. After the Navy, Robert attended Boston University and in 1958 earned a BS in Business Administration. He was a C.P.A. and founded the Boston based accounting firm R.A Hall & Co., where he continued to work until he was 73 years old. He enjoyed fishing all his life beginning with rented row boats and then graduating to larger vessels that allowed the whole family to join him on deep sea excursions. He relished planning ambitious home projects and completed numerous improvements to his homes, barn, camp and cottage. Robert enjoyed traveling and ventured on many international trips. He loved to read and had a continuous desire for knowledge. He served 30 years and was a senior life member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Co. of MA. He was also a life member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club in Winthrop. He deeply loved his family and will be very sadly missed. He was the devoted father of Laurie E. Albert and her husband Madison of Winterport, ME, Robert A. Hall Jr. and his wife Kasey of Chesapeake, VA, Eric J. Hall and his wife Mary of Andover, Sara J. Belisle and her husband Kevin of Kensington, NH, William J. Hall of Boston, Ellen F. Hall of Paris, France, and the late Edwin W. Hall. Father-in-law of Allison S. Hall of Winthrop. Former husband of and the mother of their children, Mary E. (Hewitt) (Hall) Havey of Hampton, NH. Dear brother of the late James H. Hall, Jr. and the late Norma A. Lord. Adored grandfather of Madison, Marc, Andrew, Rebecca, Katherine, Caroline, Joseph, Allison, Eric, Adam, Elizabeth, Cecilia, Wesley, and Katie. Robert is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life and a Memorial Service will be held at the First Church of Winthrop-United Methodist, 217 Winthrop St., Winthrop, MA, on Sat., June 16, 2012, at 4PM. Visiting hours will be held at the church before the Service from 2-4PM. Relatives and friends are invited.
