Abbott W. Fish, Jr., 96, of Mattapoisett died May 26, 2012 peacefully at Emeritus Senior Living in Dartmouth.
He was the husband of the late Sylvia H. (Howland) Fish.
Born in Quincy, the son of the late Abbott W. and Esther (Luce) Fish, he lived in Walpole while summering in Mattapoisett and wintering in Sarasota, FL before becoming a permanent resident of Mattapoisett in 1998.
Mr. Fish enjoyed sailing, golfing, painting and gardening.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He participated in the Battles of the Northern Solomons and Guadalcanal and was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Stone and Marion Voltz.
His private funeral arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett.
