Sarah “Sally” Bradford Gilchrist of Stonington, CT passed away on May 27, 2012 after a long illness.
She was born in Wilmington, Delaware October 29, 1929, the daughter of Marjorie O. and Thomas G. Bradford. She attended the Tower Hill School and graduated from Foxhollow School in Lenox, MA.
She worked in Washington, DC where she met her husband, David T. Gilchrist. They were married in 1959 and moved back to Wilmington. Sally spent her summers in Stonington with her family and loved tennis and gardening. She was a past president of the Stonington Garden Club and a member of the Wadawanuck Club.
She is survived by her son William B. Gilchrist and his wife Deborah of Wilmington, DE and her daughter, Ann T. Gilchrist, of Stonington, CT. Her husband David T. Gilchrist died in September 2011.
She was also predeceased by her brothers, Henry B. Bradford of West Hartford and Stonington and Joseph O. Bradford of Wilmington, DE.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012, at 11:30am at Stonington Cemetery, 345 Main Street, Stonington CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham Street, Norwich CT 06360.
