Charles E. Thompson, 95, of The Villages, FL, died May 27, 2012 at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala, FL after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester, NH on August 13, 1916 and was raised by Florence H. Stone. He lived in New Hampshire in Manchester and Effingham and had wintered in Ormond Beach, FL, all for many years. He moved to The Villages several years ago.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Mr. Thompson worked as an x-ray technician at the Portsmouth (NH) Naval Shipyard and as an imaging technician guiding internship students at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Manchester for many years.
He enjoyed cribbage and keeping up with current events. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and gentle soul.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Rachel (Lefebvre) Thompson; his second wife, Jenita (Richardson) Thompson; two daughters, Charleen Thompson and Carole Turgeon; a sister, Katherine Thompson; and two brothers, Earl W. Thompson and Frank L. Thompson.
The family includes a son, Robert C. Thompson and his wife, Loretta, of The Villages, FL; a son in law, Andre W. Turgeon of Manchester, NH; five grandchildren, David K. Turgeon, Deborah A. Lohman, Daniel K. Turgeon, Dennis K. Turgeon and Derek L. Thompson and his wife, Crystal; a step grandson, Jason W. MacEachern; and 10 great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony was held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester, NH. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford, NH.
