Evrydiki (Garoulis) Economos, 84, of Worcester passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital on Saturday, May 26th surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Vasilios Economos. They were married for 54 years before his passing in 2006. She is survived by her two devoted children whom she loved deeply: Her son, Dino Economos and his wife, Cheryl of Sturbridge and her daughter, Elly Athanasiou and her husband, Archie with whom she lived. She was a loving grandmother (Yiayia) to her four grandchildren, Maria, Vasilios “Bill”, and Eleni Athanasiou and Christopher Economos. Her grandchildren were her life. She was the sister of the late Spiro Garoulis. She also leaves behind many loving and caring relatives.
Evrydiki was born in Athens, Greece, the daughter of Vasilios and Agathi (Andoni) Garoulis. She came to this country in 1952, married her husband, Vasilios and started her family. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Much gratitude to her friend, Vasiliki Sahinis who was always there for her during her time of illness.
Evrydiki’s family would like to thank everyone in the Pulmonary Care Unit at St. Vincent Hospital for their kindness and caring, especially Dr. Kevin Martin.
She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. May her memory be eternal.
Her funeral is Wednesday, May 30th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, May 29th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
